Aboriginal Education: the Urgency to Act - A candid conversation with the Right Honourable Paul Martin
Former Prime Minister Paul Martin believes that the biggest moral and social issue we face as a country today is education for young Indigenous Canadians. The urgency in addressing this issue is not only of moral imperative – he has been quoted as saying the failure to address the issue is “economically as dumb as a bag of hammers”.
In conversation with Canadian Education Association (CEA) President and CEO Ron Canuel, Mr. Martin will articulate the crucial steps that must be taken to provide Indigenous children the future they deserve. Proceeds from this fundraising event will propel CEA’s ongoing support of the courageous leaders who are working to transform Canadian education, especially for Indigenous learners.
This exclusive event will bring together over 100 Aboriginal, education, and corporate leaders with a vested interest in supporting Indigenous student success. Doors open at 6:00pm for a networking cocktail reception hosted by BMO Financial Group. This will be followed by the in-depth 30-minute fireside chat between Mr. Martin and Mr. Canuel, and then a Q&A session with attendees.
